We are excited to announce that the School of Art and Design continues with innovations to the Summer Ceramic Art at Alfred program initiated in 2014. We are offering workshops and courses designed to meet the needs of everyone interested in working with clay. All of the workshops have the same goal: to create an atmosphere for artistic and personal growth.
We have two-week workshops offered by Wayne Higby, Walter McConnell, and Linda Sikora and Matthew Metz. If you have four weeks to devote to working in clay, consider the intensive studio workshop with John Gill and In-Chin Lee. These are opportunities to learn from internationally recognized artists on their own turf: sharing their facilities, libraries, and community. Every day is full of demonstrations, lectures, and one-on-one conversations with faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and workshop participants.
Dr. William Carty returns to teach his two-day short course, Ceramic Science for the Artist. If you enroll in any of the other workshops, you are welcome attend these two days of lectures.
New this year is The Teacher’s Studio, an exciting one-week workshop with Jason Green designed for teachers to explore and experiment with clay.
If you have never visited the ceramic studio at Alfred, the summer program is an excellent opportunity to see what is possible here. We are looking forward to the beautiful summer weather, surrounded by a community of people who love working with clay. Please consider joining us.
